Cass Entrepreneurs Network represents Cass and City students, alumni and academics engaged or interested in entrepreneurship.
By connecting these groups together around entrepreneurship, we aim to increase the opportunity for new businesses to be created successfully and connect people with an entrepreneurial spirit.
Ours is a diverse and lively community of students, alumni, academics and investors and we look forward to seeing you in the future.
For both students and alumni, the network will connect you to other people with an entrepreneurial spirit allowing you to share your passion for creativity and innovation. We can also connect you to existing startups, entrepreneurs and investors who can offer advice to develop your ideas. Our events are a great place to gain new friends or co-founders, knowledge and even funding.
In addition, it is a great way to stay informed about entrepreneurship events happening across Cass and City after you have left!
For academics, the network helps you connect with the university’s successful entrepreneurial alumni.
The group was started as the City Entrepreneurs Club in 1999 by Scott Weiss, who sadly passed away in 2004, and entrepreneurship lecturer Lakis Kaounides at the height of the dotcom boom. It has had a long history of delivering high quality events and connections to its members.
Post the dotcom bubble bursting in 2001, the club continued thanks to Dom Pannell amongst difficult times for entrepreneurs.
It was in 2003, that the group formally renamed itself to the Cass Entrepreneurs Network (CEN) as City University Business School changed its name to Cass Business School and moved into new premises on Bunhill Row.
In 2015, the group combined with several other student entrepreneurship societies including Cass Entrepreneurship Society and Tech City Society. These had been created in the preceding years due to the growth of entrepreneurship in Tech City, which sits on the doorstep of Cass Business School. This formed a single super group for those connected to the entrepreneurship ecosystem to connect and learn.
